"Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance"

A Speedmap is a plan of how a race is likely to be run. Horses are placed in their preferred Racing Positions .This information is vital when accessing the chances of runners.

Factors that determine horses racing positions :

Current & past horse racing positions
 Barrier positions

Track conditions  Horse gear changes
Rail placements  Jockey riding styles
Stewards Reports  Weights  Class
Trainer training styles
At what stage of its campaign the horse is in i.e., 2 up from a spell
Race Distances  Overall race times and sectional times
Jockey & Horse relationship

Did you know that around 50% (even more in sprint races 56%) of races are won by horses that are in the first three approaching the 400m mark of a race? (source of 200,000 races).By using your Speedmaps you can capitalise on these powerful statistics.

One of the greatest advantages of Speed Maps today, is that they give you the edge in overcoming Track Bias. By simply referring to the Speedmaps you can identify which horse(s) will be suited or disadvantaged by any track bias. Use a common sense approach, if the track bias is favouring leaders then simply look for horses on the maps that race in the leader position. Sometimes the bias will be certain sections of the track,i.e. hard up against the rails, once again by referring to your Speedmaps you will see where the horses will race and thus who is advantaged and disadvantaged.

Another important piece of information that Speed Maps provides is the likely Pace Of The Race and from this you can determine which horse(s) are likely to be suited. In general, a slower pace favours horses closer to the lead whilst a faster pace favours horses coming from behind. You know the disappointing feeling of seeing your horse at the tail of the field in a slowly run race - when the leaders quicken and they start to sprint many a times mathematically it is impossible for them to win.

An example, Horse "Freddy Teddy" has a lot of early natural speed and usually leads in his races. But in today's race Freddy Teddy has a wide barrier - on paper you might think that Freddy Teddy might not be able to cross the field and lead. However here at Speedmaps all horses are timed and special attention is given to their early sectional times (first 600m) and thus from our databases we are able to determine their early cruising speeds and whether wide barriers will affect their chances.

Speed Maps also enable you to accurately determine how many lengths any given horse may be from the lead - this type of information is important especially when considering the chances of horses that race in the middle/back of the pack "midfielders/backmarkers" - are they giving away the leaders too much start ? Will they be able to weave their way through the field or will they have to come around the field ?You know the frustrating feeling of seeing your horse charge home only to arrive too late.

Another benefit of these Speedmaps is that you can determine which horse is likely to receive a soft run in the race and which horse may receive a harder run in the race (i.e. a horse trapped 3/4 - wide). There's nothing worst than seeing your horse sitting 3 wide facing the breeze in a fast pace race - more often than not it ends up finishing amongst the tailenders.
